Non - Copyright Music

Copyright basically means that you need permission from the owner to use their product/service for personal use. This is all dependent on how the owner has set up the settings of the song/video/image or whatever it is that is owned. If a user does take something that doesn't belong to them then they can face being prosecuted in court, as it is an illegal action and can't be done. They could have set it up in a way that it is non-copyright so any user has the ability and right to use the piece of information and media. It is important because some owners want to be notified when someone else is using their work and want to take action. The problems copyright music can create for me during my project is just finding a suitable song that we are legally allowed to use. Permission needs to be granted if the song is copyright, which can be a problem because some owners may take a while to reply to you. If they are not replying to you then it is likely they will not reply. If this is so then it will force us to choose a song that is non-copyright, which could be hard to find.

 

My favourite music video

This is my favourite music video because it tells an emotional story about 2 young brothers that have had a hard up-bringing and how they have gone two separate ways in life. I think the fact that they were young plays on the viewers emotions more. The video starts off showing their father hitting their mother, followed by the two brothers walking down the road in slow motion. The video is showing poverty in a foreign country. We can see this by what they are wearing and the living conditions displayed. At the start of their journey, it is quite humorous and cheeky. Showing parts of them taking a crazy old man's wallet who is carrying a machete.

The brief

My task is to produce a music 'promo' video, lasting up to 5 minutes. I can either work on my own or in a group of up to four members. 

I also need to produce a 'digipak' (six panels) for its release on CD. As well as this, i need a magazine advertisement for the digipak. All of this will be followed by a critical evaluation.
